How Do You Find a Good Personal Trainer?
Are you plateauing in your solo workout journey? Combining random exercises or running endlessly on a treadmill? A good Personal Trainer might just be the exact piece in the puzzle here.
Searching for a Personal Trainer might sound easy with a simple Google search, but finding a good Personal Trainer for yourself would require a few extra things to take note of.
Plateauing in your solo workout journey is common for many, and a Personal Trainer might just help you break out of that cycle! A Personal Trainer can assess your strength, shortcomings, and lifestyle to tailor a workout routine that allows you to progress on your fitness journey.
By engaging a Fitness Trainer, exercising will be safer, more effective, and enjoyable! Here are five questions to consider when looking for a suitable good Personal Trainer for yourself.
1. Does Your Personal Trainer have any Client Testimonials?
There is no better way to hear about the way your Personal Trainer coaches, than from their clients themselves. Look out for the client’s fitness goals, and whether they have achieved it with the help of the trainer. This can give you insights into the trainer's reputation, client satisfaction, and success stories.
What type of testimonials would be reliable then? It would be great to have a video recording or a direct source from the client themselves rather than a review inputted from the trainer as the information will be more reliable.
Here at FITLUC, we have trained clients from all walks of life, including some local celebrities such as Hazelle Teo, Tay Ying, Hong Hui Fang and many more! Click here to hear more from our clients and how their journey has been like so far with us!

2. What Certifications does Your Personal Trainer have?
Personal Trainers are required to be certified by an accredited body, and it would be a big added benefit if they are certified in First Aid as well. A few recognized organizations in Singapore are:
If you need special attention to certain requirements, such as exercising with an injury, during, or after pregnancy, do keep a look out for those certifications as well. On the other hand, if you are looking to get into specific workouts like calisthenics or bodybuilding, do make sure they have the experience as you wouldn’t want to pay for a package under a trainer not knowing what you’re going through.
Here at FITLUC, most of our trainers are Sports Science trained and have relevant experience and knowledge when it comes to achieve your goals!

3. Does Your Personal Trainer's Expertise Align with your Goals?
Although it is common to find a Personal Trainer through word-of-mouth, do ensure that his/her expertise aligns with your fitness goals. As much as certifications are important, choose a trainer that can help you achieve YOUR goals as everyone's fitness journeys are different. For example, a trainer who specialises in Calisthenics may not be the best fit for you if you are aiming to bulk up!
At FITLUC, we have Personal Trainers who specialize in different aspects and have helped a wide range of clients achieve their fitness goals. Just to name a a few:
Bulking & Mass Gain

Additionally, our trainers have also worked with clients with specific goals, like for example acing their Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT)! Check out that blogpost here for more tips!
4. Are You Allowed to Attend a Trial Session?
Trials are a good gauge on how the real Personal Training session would be like. You do not want to commit to a package without experiencing how a session will be like. So what should you look for during the trial session?
Firstly, it is important to take note of the communication and rapport between the Personal Trainer and yourself. They should be able to address your concerns and explain their approach. Positive reinforcement will also make sessions more enjoyable and productive. Your trainer should be someone you feel comfortable with and motivated by.
Secondly, your Personal Trainer should be able to assess your fitness levels, medical history and goals to craft a regime for you. As there is no one size fit all workout program for everyone, it would be best if you could avoid a Personal Trainer who does similar routine for all his clients of different fitness goals.
Lastly, the trial is a good opportunity to experience the trainer's training style, teaching methods and overall approach. Inquire about how the trainer plans to track your progress. A Personal Trainer should regularly assess your performance and adjust your fitness program accordingly to ensure you're making meaningful progress. Also, don't hesitate to ask questions about the trainer's training philosophy, approach to nutrition, and how they handle injuries or setbacks. This can help you gauge their expertise and suitability for your needs.
After attending the trial, you should have a clearer understanding of whether you should commit to a Personal Training package and whether your Personal Trainer would be able to help you achieve your goals.

Here at FITLUC, our Personal Training trial lasts for 1.5 hour.
After giving you a tour of the gym, our trainer will use the next 15 minutes to get to know you better, such as understanding your goals, exercise history, past injuries, diet and more. You will also have access to a free InBody Analysis by our InBody Machine, where you can find out your weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass etc. Your trainer will then customise a program for you and take you through a workout session. During the workout, your trainer will assess your foundations and fitness level accordingly.
After which, if you are fond of FITLUC's method and your trainer's training style together with the program that he/she has planned for you, you can decide if you would like to take up a Personal Training package with us. No obligations! :)
5. Is it just a Personal Training session, or is there more?
A trial offers a deeper experience than you might initially expect. In addition to receiving personalized training with your dedicated instructor, you'll also have the opportunity to enhance your understanding of nutrition and how it impacts your fitness goals. In fact, you could come away with a more comprehensive dietary plan.
Moreover, each Personal Training session extends beyond that single hour. Your trainer will consistently monitor your progress and objectives. They will also be able to provide you with additional exercises or stretches that you can do outside of your Personal Training session with them. In summary, they'll be readily available to address any questions or concerns you may have!
What sets FITLUC apart is our exclusive FITLUCFam perks. As a member, you will gain access to a wide range of benefits, including discounts at neighbouring or online stores. This means you can enjoy savings while you embark on your fitness journey! Think of the trial as not just a mere test but as the gateway to commence your fitness adventure.
